Insight System Modules
The INSIGHT solutions consist a number of functional modules, which may be used in various combinations to meet the particular requirements of each customer.
Detailed descriptions of the facilities available within each module are provided below:
ACCOUNTS PAYMENTS MODULE
The Accounts Payments module provides for the input of contractors' invoices, matching with original order details, and control of the processes associated with approval and certification of claims.
The Accounts Payments module integrates particularly intimately with the General Maintenance and Works Ordering modules.

Effective asset management requires an accurate and detailed assessment of the condition of all parts of the asset base.
The Condition Surveys module provides a means of defining the condition data required, and then collecting and storing it for analysis.

The Contract Management module provides facilities to define contract condition fields, holding data relating to the financial and legal conditions of the contract.
Once created, the contract may be monitored from the "Invitations" stage, through to awarding the contract. Full auditable details are maintained of each stage of the tendering/contract award processes.

An important part of asset management is the recording of Customer Service requests, and progressing these through to clearance.
This module provides a single central function which will deal with all infrastructure assets, and offers unrivalled flexibility to allow for the different work practices of organisations and individuals.

Within an asset management environment, many activities are carried out on a cyclic basis.
The Cyclic Activities module provides a means of creating, executing, and monitoring a programmed schedule of activities for all these requirements, and many more.

The Street Gazetteer forms a central locational index to all data within the other Insight modules. It may be implemented simply as a register of street names, or in the form of a fully map-based highway network.
The streets may themselves be part of the asset being managed using the Insight system, or solely used as a means of locational referencing of other managed assets, such as properties or public lighting.

These modules provide a uniquely powerful system for the definition and management of works on infrastructure assets.
The types of work may be very varied, from complex and expensive work, such as structural renovation to high volume and relatively low cost jobs, such as ad-hoc safety defects. Facilities for efficient control from the point of origin through to completion, are provided for all works.

Comprehensive mapping functionality is provided within the Insight product suite, utilising the latest technologies to interface seamlessly with the two world-leading GIS products.
SymView and SymInfo are based on the ESRI ArcView, Mapinfo and Cadcorp systems respectively.

The Integrated Activities module is designed to co-ordinate and optimise overall inspection operations.
It is particularly relevant for organisations where inspectors are assigned to "patches" or groupings of assets, and are to some extent multi-functional or multi-disciplined.

The Asset Valuation sub-module strengthens the benefits of a single integrated Asset Register by providing a transparent and auditable mechanism for valuing assets in accordance with nationally published guidelines.

Insight provides a total solution for the storage of information about the highways network, and related land and property.
The features you wish to store data about, and the attributes you wish to store for each feature type, are determined by a user-defined dictionary.

Insight offers far more than the basic requirements of DfT UKPMS. In total, the three stages of UKPMS accreditation covered less than one-fifth of the functionality of the Maintenance Standards module.
It is the remainder which ensures that Insight is the most practical, powerful and easy-to-use Infrastructure Asset Management system.

Insight Mobile Devices combine unparalleled software functionality, together with the latest technology and communication options.
All the requirements for multi-disciplined inspectors are provided within a single, easy to install application. The software, which is wholly developed by Symology, offers guaranteed compatibility with the corresponding Insight modules.

The Routine and Planned Maintenance module allows fixed programmes of work to be established, and prompted on a cyclic or on-demand basis.
Calendar-based cyclic frequency patterns may be defined for each schedule of rates item, allowing irregular patterns of work to cover seasonal activities. Start and finish dates may be established, both for contracts and individual sites.

Within each Insight system, multiple databases may be set up to reflect the departmental structure of the overall asset management operation.
These are controlled from within a single Global and System Administration area, which provides the system administrator with all the facilities required to monitor and control usage of the system.

Insight reporting facilities range from on-line enquiries and reports, which cover most day-to-day operative and management requirements, through to more sophisticated reporting options using the embedded crystal reports designer.
For total reporting flexibility all data in the system is accessible via ODBC connectivity and can be queried using SQL.
