Street Gazetteer and Gazetteer Maintenance
The Street Gazetteer forms a central locational index to all data within the other Insight modules. It may be implemented simply as a register of street names, or in the form of a fully map-based highway network.
A full suite of tools for maintaining a Level 3 National Street Gazetteer are also available. This includes the ability to import OS MasterMap ITN data and use it as the basis for maintaining the spatial data element of the Gazetteer. Associated Street Data, such as Reinstatement Designations and Special Designations can also be managed in this module. With the embedded GIS tools, this data can also be plotted and managed spatially.
Asset Register & Networks
The Asset Register & Networks module provides a comprehensive solution for the storage and management of all asset data relating to the highway network and related land and property.
Whilst the module provides the flexibility to store almost any asset type, specialised facilities are also provided within the module to meet the requirements of specific disciplines such as Highways, UKPMS, Street Lighting and Structures.
In addition to managing asset data, the module provides sophisticated facilities for defining and managing any number of linear network referencing systems.
The Asset Valuation module strengthens the benefits of a single integrated Asset Register by providing a transparent and auditable mechanism for valuing assets in accordance with nationally published guidelines.
When used in combination with Insight's UKPMS functions the system has the ability to calculate the Gross Replacement Cost (GRC) and Depreciated Replacement Cost (DRC) of carriageway and footway assets in accordance with the requirements of the CIPFA Financial Code.
Comprehensive mapping functionality is provided within the Insight product suite, utilising .NET technologies to interface seamlessly with the latest releases of world-leading GIS products from ESRI and Cadcorp. These facilities provide synchronised bi-directional connectivity, with full enquiry and updating capabilities.
Street Works Notice Management for Traffic Managers
Insight Street Works Register provides comprehensive functionality for the coordination of all activities which could potentially cause disruption on the highway, including Utility and Highway Authority Works, Highways Act licences, other obstructions on the highway, and special events, such as sports
Street Works Notice Management for Works Promoters
Insight Street Works Register provides comprehensive functionality for both Utility and Highway Authority Works Promoters.
Works may be initiated and progressed through the appropriate life cycle, which accommodates the functions of permission and co-ordination.
Licences and Events
The Insight Licences module deals with the entire application, approval and payment processes, as well as automatically generating entries in the Street Works module for co-ordination purposes. The Licences module deals with all types of licences including Skips, Scaffolding, materials on the highway, cranes, and other Highways Act licences.
The module also provides special facilities for temporary road closures for sporting events, parades, festivals, etc., and for recording diversion routes, including entries encompassing multiple streets.
General Maintenance & Works Ordering
These modules provide a uniquely powerful system for the definition and management of works on infrastructure assets.
The types of work may be very varied, from complex and expensive work, such as structural renovation to high volume and relatively low cost jobs, such as ad-hoc safety defects. Facilities for efficient control from the point of origin through to completion, are provided for all works.
Works Management (Contractor Module)
The Works Management module provides comprehensive facilities for contractors within Insight.
A multi-faceted range of facilities and user permissions cater for the vast array of different contractual relationships that exist today; including traditional client/contractor arrangements, target cost contracts, partnerships, PFIs and open book accounting.
The dual-purpose design of the Accounts Payments module allows it to be operated by both client and contractor users.
For client users the Accounts Payments module handles contractors invoices, matching them with original order details, and controlling the processes for approval and certification of the claim. For a contractor (using the Works Management module) claims are automatically generated when completion details for works are entered (manually or via Insight Mobile).
Effective asset management requires an accurate and detailed assessment of the condition of all parts of the asset base.
The Condition Surveys module provides a means of defining the condition data required, and then collecting and storing it for analysis.
Insight offers far more than the basic requirements of DfT UKPMS. In total, the three stages of UKPMS accreditation covered less than one-fifth of the functionality of the Maintenance Standards module.
It is the remainder which ensures that Insight is the most practical, powerful and easy-to-use Infrastructure Asset Management system.
Within an asset management environment, many activities are carried out on a cyclic basis.
The Cyclic Activities module provides a means of creating, executing, and monitoring a programmed schedule of activities for all these requirements, and many more.
Insight Mobile combines unparalleled software functionality, together with the latest technology and communication options.
All the requirements for multi-disciplined inspectors, and contractor work gangs, are provided within a single, easy to install application. The software, which is wholly developed by Symology, offers guaranteed compatibility with the corresponding Insight modules.
An important part of asset management is the recording of Customer Service requests, and progressing these through to clearance.
This module provides a single central function which will deal with all infrastructure assets, and offers unrivalled flexibility to allow for the different work practices of organisations and individuals.
Insight reporting facilities range from on-line enquiries and reports, which cover most day-to-day operative and management requirements, through to more sophisticated reporting options using the embedded crystal reports designer.
For total reporting flexibility all data in the system is accessible via ODBC connectivity and can be queried using SQL.
The Integrated Activities module is designed to co-ordinate and optimise overall inspection operations.
It is particularly relevant for organisations where inspectors are assigned to "patches" or groupings of assets, and are to some extent multi-functional or multi-disciplined.
Within each Insight system, multiple databases may be set up to reflect the departmental structure of the overall asset management operation.
These are controlled from within a single Global and System Administration area, which provides the system administrator with all the facilities required to monitor and control usage of the system.
