As the first customer ever onboarded to Aurora back in 2020, it is testament to the strong relationship and the power of the Aurora solution that we can extend this partnership long term.
The Scottish Road Works Commissioner is an independent public official established under section 16 of the Transport (Scotland) Act 2005 and is accountable to the Scottish Ministers and ultimately the Scottish Parliament.
The Commissioner’s aim is to improve the planning, co-ordination and quality of road works throughout Scotland. The Commissioner monitors performance, promotes and encourages good practice across both utility companies and road works authorities.
One of the objectives for the Commissioner is to provide the Scottish road works user community with a register of works, namely the Scottish Road Works Register. This register provides a way to plan and exchanges notices of works, records details of inspections, reinstatements and exchanges information on the location of apparatus with an overall aim to aid in the coordination of works and reduce disruption to the travelling public.
Symology’s Managing Director, Mike Bartlett, said, “We are incredibly proud to be given the opportunity to continue working with the Commissioner’s Office. When you work so closely with a customer for nearly 20 years it’s crucial that neither of you settle into a sort of business-as-usual approach and that when challenges are presented, they are met head on with a collaborative approach, to ensure they are successfully met. I feel over the years that the various contracts with the Commissioner’s Office have challenged us at Symology in the best possible way and actually played a significant part in making us a better provider for them.”
