Our commitment to accessibility
Symology are committed to ensuring effective communication and digital accessibility for everyone.
We strive to meet recognised accessibility standards, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and ISO 30071-1. We regularly review and enhance our services through testing, user feedback, and continuous improvement.
Adapt your experience to your needs
While our solutions are designed to be accessible as-is, some users may benefit from customising their experience to better suit their needs.
For example, you might change the site’s colours, increase the text size, or have the site spoken aloud.

Accessibility Features and Known Limitations
The following sections refer to our website, products and services, detailing our known accessibility features and limitations.
This website
This Symology website uses a design theme with accessibility ready features, and is stated as WCAG 2.1 compliant. It supports screen readers, zoom adjustments and other assistive technology.
Aurora Desktop / web application
The Aurora Desktop application was independently audited for accessibility by Hassell Inclusion in May 2026.
We are aware of the following issues that we are actively working to improve:
- Some areas of the system don’t fully support keyboard navigation – this is on our roadmap to fix.
- Focus indicators are being improved so all are clear when using a keyboard interface to navigate and interact
- Labelling of some buttons and components lack context when list separately so users of assistive technology may need to navigate sequentially to discover this
- The dashboard viewer reports may not provide reasonable alternatives for all user groups – we are working on ways to improve this
- Some of our PDF reports aren’t fully tagged although assistive technology may read these in the correct order – contact us if you need further help with these.
Aurora mobile app
The Aurora mobile application has a touch based interface, has a map and text based user experience which follows the Material design methodology.
Black text and white backgrounds are predominant, use of colour predominantly meets accessibility standards for colour contrast.
Android and Apple phone and tablet devices can be used, in both landscape and portrait modes. The application detects and utilizes screen capabilities and formats the interface accordingly.
Aurora Community Portal
Aurora customers have access to the Aurora Community Portal, a web service which includes a Knowledge Base, the Aurora Academy e-learning resources, news, release notices and other useful supporting resources.
Whilst these services are generally designed with clear text and are suitable for screen reading and other assistive technologies, we plan to implement further improvements and review the results in the future.
Our Aurora Academy e-learning materials are predominantly video based, with playback speed controls and high quality captions/subtitles.
Public Web Portals
Our View It, Report It and Apply For It public web portals are customised websites which interact with Aurora data to gather and/or share information with the public and other interested parties. Typically, the design is branded to match customer requirements, integrating with their own corporate identity. This includes branding, website design and any compliance requirements, including accessibility.
We have incorporated accessibility optimisation for customers, and would address each customer unique requirements in partnership with them. Accessibility features would include:
- Browser zoom controls can be used to adjust font size, in most cases to at least 200%
- Text and forms are shown in considered, corporate colour schemes
