The Aurora Spark Award – Small Project, Big Impact

Winner: Islington Council

The Aurora Spark Award recognises smaller projects that deliver significant impact.

This year’s winner, Islington Council, demonstrated how the effective use of technology can create meaningful operational improvements. Through the successful adoption of Aurora, the Street Works team has enhanced visibility of key information, streamlined daily processes and embedded more efficient ways of working across their service.

By making excellent use of Aurora’s dashboards, reports and saved views, the team has delivered tangible benefits for both staff and service delivery. Their success has extended beyond their own department, helping to influence wider digital transformation initiatives across the organisation.

Most notably, the positive outcomes achieved through Aurora contributed to the Parking Team’s decision to implement the platform as part of its own transformation programme. It is a fantastic example of leadership, collaboration and innovation driving change across an organisation.

The Aurora Zenith Award – Efficiency Champion

Winner: Wales & West Utilities

The Aurora Zenith Award celebrates customers who have used Aurora to achieve significant efficiencies, whether financial, operational or qualitative.

Wales & West Utilities impressed the judging panel through their innovative use of Aurora Mobile to support site survey inspections and compliance with street works requirements. By enabling real-time data capture in the field, they have improved operational visibility while streamlining processes across their teams.

Their use of Aurora’s flexible dashboards, widgets and additional field functionality has empowered users to take ownership of their responsibilities, reducing administration time and improving accountability.

The organisation has also embraced bespoke reporting capabilities to gain deeper insights into performance and workflow management. Building on this success, Wales & West Utilities are now exploring Aurora’s Data Warehouse capabilities to unlock even greater business intelligence and reporting benefits in the future.

The Aurora Nova Award – Creativity & Innovation

Winner: Transport for London

Recognising creativity and innovation, the Aurora Nova Award celebrates organisations that are finding new ways to maximise the value of Aurora.

Transport for London (TfL)
has continued to demonstrate a data-led approach to managing one of the world’s busiest and most complex road networks. Through the use of advanced reporting, data warehousing, enhanced mapping and traffic management capabilities, TfL has significantly improved operational visibility and decision-making.

Their commitment to innovation extends beyond core functionality. TfL has embraced solutions such as Aerial Photography and continues to explore opportunities including Road Works Reporter and Apply for It to further enhance service delivery.

Their proactive approach and drive for continuous improvement have helped deliver richer operational insights, greater efficiency and improved network coordination across the capital.

The Aurora First Light Award – Early Adoption

Winner: Salford City Council

The Aurora First Light Award recognises organisations that demonstrate vision, trust and commitment through the early adoption of new technology.

This year, Salford City Council received the award in recognition of becoming the first organisation to invest in Symology’s Digital Traffic Regulation Order (DTRO) solution.

As an early adopter, Salford played a crucial role in shaping the development of the solution, providing valuable feedback and helping ensure that it delivered meaningful benefits from day one. Their partnership has contributed directly to the creation of a solution that is now helping organisations streamline DTRO management, improve efficiency and realise a strong return on investment.

Being first requires confidence, collaboration and a willingness to embrace change. Salford City Council demonstrated all three and have helped pave the way for the wider adoption of DTRO technology across the sector.

As the team were unable to attend the awards ceremony, Ryan Lees from Transport for Greater Manchester proudly accepted the award on their behalf.

Update – The team at Salford City Council have now received their award.
